Minor Turbulence #31
3.31. Minor Turbulence
It opens after you finish Caida Libre, and it starts when you visit Michael's empty house as Franklin. Trevor chases Merryweather's cargo plane in a crop duster and climbs aboard. Right after Caida Libre it may not show up at once, so drive around Los Santos for a bit.
- Leaving McKenzie Field
- After Franklin hears the situation by phone, you switch to Trevor. Ron brings up the weapons Merryweather is bringing in bulk, and Trevor and Ron go to McKenzie Field in Grapeseed.
- Low chase
- In the crop duster, chase the cargo plane circling near Fort Zancudo. Fly low along the coast so the base radar does not pick you up.
- Once you leave the base airspace at Braddock Pass, close in on the plane. After the pilot warns you several times to change course, he opens the cargo door, and rockets and bullets come from inside.
- Stick close behind the plane and fly the crop duster into the cargo hold.
- Fight in the cargo hold
- Dodge the sliding Mesas and the cargo, take out the Merryweather mercenaries, and drop the pilot in the cockpit too.
- Take the controls and head for McKenzie Field, and two United States Air Force jets appear and order you to Fort Zancudo. When Trevor refuses, a missile wrecks one engine.
- Escape
- Grab a parachute and drop while sitting in a Mesa, or jump from the cargo hold. If you are too low, climb to a safe height first.
- Landing safely with the parachute finishes the mission. The plane falls into the Alamo Sea.
- Finishing it adds a parachute to the Ammu-Nation stock list.
- Gold medal
- Accuracy of at least 80%
- A shotgun makes it easier to land hits.
- If you die, you return to a checkpoint and the goal is voided. Approach the plane from below, turn the special ability on after you climb aboard, and fill your body armor.
- Getting hit by a sliding Mesa or a crate can kill you outright. Cross the cover to the left, not the right where the vehicles pour out.
- Leave the plane while sitting in a Mesa
- After you jump, get out of the Mesa and open the parachute. If you hit the ground still inside, you are caught in the explosion. The Mesa closest to the cockpit does not fall.
- Reasons for failure
- Trevor dies or is busted, or Ron, Michael, or Patricia dies
- The crop duster is destroyed too early, you leave the crop duster behind, or you fail to enter the cargo hold
- You lose the plane, or Trevor falls or the plane is destroyed before it is shot down
- The plane gets too close to Los Santos, or it gets too far from McKenzie Field
